Im going to pick up a jdm h22a type s motor..with LSD tranny. How can i make sure that everythign is Type S that is supposed to be..

It has teh type s intake.

What color valve cover should it have?

What is the tranny code?

How can i prove it has type s cams?

Anything on the block? it should read h22a (correct?)

for starters:

if it's got an LSD tranny then it's not a "Type S" motor. the BB6 type S came with ATTS.

but, it could be a 4th gen JDM H22 from an SiR-G, which came with the LSD tranny.

That's what I thought too. The Type S is the same as our Type SH....with more aggressive cams and higher comp pistons.

If the transmission code is M2B4, then you want to give it to me.

Aren't the Type S blocks different from the non Type S blocks?? The trans are not interchangeable. It requires modification to make a non Type S trans fit a Type S block, I believe.

First the guy says it's a Type S and has LSD, now he's saying the compression is 12:1. Either he's an idiot, or he is hoping you are.

Measure the throttle body. Nobody who is trying to scam off a fake Type-S will even think to correct that issue.

SiR S-spec engines seems to be frequently reffered to as Type-S. It seems pretty plausable that you could have a "Type-S" engine w/LSD. *shrug*

the m2b4 tranny alone is worth at least $700, so yes, but if u factor in labor to put in the pistons and crank and head(unless u are doing that yourself) then it may come out to more than buying a complete swap

You're parting it out? Dude, seriously, if it turns out to be an M2B4 tranny, I'd be interested in buying it.

Yes, the head will work fine.

im willing to bet a good amount of money its not an M2B4 trans, and its not a type S block. Atleast read the motor code. If the trans is off , look at the diff. If you can see straight thru it its LSD if not then it isnt.

And its my understanding the M2B4 was off a euro R not a type S. Something just dont seem right. research more and take pictures of all the crap before you buy it and see if you can identify some of it.

yes but it could very well just be a plain JDM swap. ask him where he got it from and if its a local place ask for a contact so you can call and verify. Just use your brain here, do you want to be fucked for 700 bucks? i know i wouldent.

I also told you how to tell if its REALLY lsd. i smell a big pile of bullshit.
