Hello all,

I just picked up a 96 Civic HX with a bad CVT transmission. I can get a 97 Civic EX parts car very cheap. Now, I have been told that this is a plug and play swap, one only needs to swap out the ECU. I am also converting the car over to a 5 speed (Have all of the components, might as well). I would just like to know from some of the more experienced members weather or not this swap is actually "Plug and Play" or if there are wiring issues (Aside from the auto-to-manual swap).

Right, yes, that is what I am trying to do. I would just like to know what, if any, wiring issues there are with this swap. Again, I am swapping the cvt out for a manual transmission at the same time.

 

the trans mount bracket will require some modification(some say you need a 5 speed one but you can make it work) and the key has to be rewired so that it will trick the car to think its in park to let the key out

 

you dont have to mess with the ignition.....on the plugs that go to the auto shifter there are two big black wires.....all you do is connect them to eachother and your car will start thinking its in park....worked on my 92 DX
