Does this thing need to be hooked up? I bought a 1990 Civic Si with a b16a1 in it running on a pr3 ECU, and its throwing code 21, and there isn't anything even plugged into the SSV. So what exactly does it do, do i need it, and if i do, how do I hook it up?

OK so apparently the SSV is a Vtec Dealy which probably explains why vtec doesn't engage. just took the car out for a spin, vtec does not engage, and I hit a rev limiter a little before 7000 rpms, plus the car is now throwing code 23 -knock sensor. Until a today the motor was running on a pr4 and I just installed the pr3, but it rums just like it did with the pr4 (no vtec, rev limiter just before 7k) except now its throwing codes. So I need to know how to wire up the SSV. And how to deal with the knock sensor, thanks again!

Since it was running on a PR4 ecu that does not look for a knock sensor the code 23 would not appear. Now with a Pr3 that looks for the knock sensor it throws the code since the knock sensor is not hooked up.
