For all you who have cam gears out in the open with no cover on them,....do not I repeat do not even go near them while the engine is running.. I sliped up yesterday and my right pointer got mutilated....crushed bone.....cut up like it was in a blender,,, and I lost my finger nail for good... woke up this morning hoping it was all a bad dream....it hurts bad....but not as bad as knowing I might have messed up my car... it cut off when I did it... so Im expecting the worst bent valves...ect...but pray for me cause Im lucky to have a finger....it sucks cause I was getting the car tuned on wed anyway....not anymore....I hate this ...

Ouch!! I'm always stabbing myself with stuff accidently, but thank god I've never been caught up in the mangler. Hope everything turns out ok, considering.

 

yea I was in the hospital all day.. It really sucked.... I was checking the cam gears for uneven wobble, cause I just put them back on with the cams, and it caught my finger... stupid,,, stupid... any way does anyone think I will have any bent valves it looks like the belt slipped 2 teeth on each gear

 

i was in the hospitall al day.. finger looks nasty, and its broke... I was checking the gears for wobble, cause I just put them back on with the new cams,,, and it got my finger,,,, stupid... I found out that the belt jumped 2 teeth on each gear, does anyone predict bent valves... I mean I hope not but if soo....its just my luck

i cant believe your finger shut the motor off....thats some strong bone!

im gonna use "obstruction to the cam gear" instead of finger, that is grossing me out....

seriously though, did the motor shut right off when your obstruction to the cam gears went in, or did it run for a split sec then shut? if it shut right off you probably will be fine, because it probably shut off from your obstruction stopping the rotation...and not bent valves....

i hope for the best for you....and your obstruction.....

I think you are very fortunate to have your finger still. I have always been freaked out by fast moving parts. When I worked at a meat dept in a grocery store this guy cut off the tips to two of his knuckles on a bandsaw, it was the sickest **** ever.

What kind of pain med did you get? I cannot even imagine the pain you must be in.

In shop class a while ago my friend sanded off like a inch of his middle finger on the disc sander. Never got any of it back . His knickname was Stubbs becuse his last name is Stubblefield....we all know why we call him Stubbs now

Same thing happened to my friend JonJon. His wife had to rush his *** to the hospital.

 

Thanks everyone for there comments. They are gratelly appreiciated. I still have my finger: thank God, but yesterday I was looking at the car, and found my whole finger nail under the gears... Sad...but still gratefull.....

Good news is my Dad helped me get the car back in time to see if it would run,,,, started right up!....infact got it tuned today... Im soooo glad nothing else happened!
