Default Have any type R owner test drive the Civic Si?

Have any one own a Civic Si 04-05 that is also were a type R owner before, I would like to know what you think about the SI as a daily driving car.

I know it is no comparison to the type R, but since recently my type R was vandalized I would like to get a car that is both fun to drive and not have to worry about it.

What would you get for a lower budget fun car?

Talk to George Knighton, I believe he has a ep3 but I'm not sure which year.

The new Si is nice, but rather bland.

i've driven the ep3 and it's a very nice ride. however, the tc is a really cool car. haven't driven it, but when i was inside one, it felt 'better'? anyway, any beater will be good to get the R out of harm's way.

the civic si is a great car. but i donno if its a good daily driver. that car draws a lot of attension to thieves as well. an si has good chances of getting vandalized stripped or stolen depending on where u live.

Can't believe I'd ever be saying this, but maybe a *gulp* Dodge SRT-4? Low budget and hella fast. Not too sure about dependability. But probably a lower theft rate, since no one wants a POS Neon

get either a tc or a base RSX. Forget EP3. It drives way too bland, ugly and high insurance rate.

TC is fun & your can get TRD supercharger (w/ warranty). Base RSX would be a great daily driver w/ just a suspension mod.

Yeah, I gotta agree--I'd pick a base RSX (cloth 5-speed) over a Civic Si. I had an 02 Civic Si and now an RSX-S, and I like the RSX a whole lot better.

Are you rebuilding the R, If you are then just get a a 6k-7k beater if your going to get a newer si. + they are going to do away with the si hatch.

I have an 02 Si. It's my daily driver and does fine for what I need it to do. FOr the price it couldn't be beat. I paid $16,400 out the door new.

My only complaints are the brakes and suspension. I took care of that with Mugen Sport Suspension and a TYPE-S 5 lug swap. Now I can swithch wheels with the R and run larger brakes.

I really like the the shift design on the dash. It's really fun to drive!

i fully agree.... before my wife bought her 05 type s she had a base rsx, and it was very nice, just not as fast......

a buddy of mine has a tc and he really loves it.....

i would say either one, but i prefer the rsx......

From those choices I'd go for the Scion TC. I personally went for a truck and I'm very glad that I did.

If all you are looking for is reliable, economical transportation, the SI should suit you well. But as a performance car, it is a definite dud.

Scion XB

I wanted a White EP until I started seeing hatchcraps and "Hybrids" with the wheels and seats in their caRs.

I was very disappointed in the Si. I went and drove one with my friend when he was in the market for a new car a couple of years ago. He fortunately didn't buy one, but my other friend bought one against my advice, he hates it and can't wait to get rid of it.
