Default ThunderHill Track/Drift event. Jan 26th

This is really late but if anyone is interested in running Thunderhill there is an open track event this Sat. There are 2 regular run groups and 2 special "drift" run groups.

$100.

There's a short discussion on:

I'm surprised that Thunderhill would allow that from a liability point of view.. but heck, it sounds like the kind of "tail-out jack-assery" that I would get a lot of laughs from. Too bad nobody has a track with switchbacks (but still plenty of run-off room, heh), to play with hand-brake turns and pretend you're Collin McRae (sp?)

I apologize to all the hard-core racers out there in this forum.. I have a childish enjoyment of the tail-out stuff. I know it doesn't give speed, but it does give grins.. :D

We all do love a little tail out jackassery! i am also extremely suprised that Thunderhill would allow such an excercise

I know Willow Springs and a few other Left Coast tracks have drift days too. From what I gather, there are a couple heats where a group gets out there, maintains safe distances, drives with an instructor, and practice tail whipping jackassery. The rest of the day is usually a standard HPDE. I've seen some footage from some of my 240 cohorts... It's not racing (they'll be the first to admit that), but it does look like good fun in a controlled environment.
