Default h22 tranny for an h23...

I've got i/h/e/tb/fpr/ 12lb fw, and ACT clutch, and am planning for about 11:1 compression and vfac2. My tranny is dying and I need another. I'm looking at remanned but I'm wondering if I should go with an h22 tranny or maybe ATR tranny. Its for a 4g SI with no weight reduction. Any opinions?

H22 tranny gearing is too short for the H23 motor to benefit any. H22 tranny is designed to take advantage of the upper-rpm powerband of the H22. The H23 makes its power 1000rpms fewer than the H22.

H23 makes peak tq at 4500rpms and peak hp at 5500rpms. The H22 makes most tq at 5300 rpms and peak hp at 6800rpms.

I dunno I have driven many LS b18b motors with both B16 and GSR tranny's and the non vtec torquey motor combined with shorter geared trannies really make for a fun car to drive as long as your not going on any extended trips because you will cruise around on the freeway at like 60 mph at like 4,000 rpm which gets kinda loud, and burns unneeded gas as well, but definetly fun to drive around town..just my two cents

ok, if the h22 tranny is useless on the h23, how would that work out the opposite way? cuz I'm in the process of doing that right now, JDM h22a with the h23a1 tranny, I hope I didnt make a huge mistake in doing this...

Tranny specs:

92-96 Prelude Si 3.310 1.860 1.320 1.033 0.801 ?? 4.270
92-96 Prelude VTEC 3.310 1.950 1.360 1.070 0.870 ?? 4.270

same first gear, h22a has a shorter 2nd but not THAT short, slightly shorter 3rd, slightly shorter 4th and 5th with the same FD.

how is that not compatible for a h23?

here is a USDM type-r tranny:

3.230 2.105 1.458 1.107 0.848 3.000 4.400

my friend has a completely stock b20 with that tranny (he replaced the 4.4 FD with the JDM 4.78 FD) and it's actually pretty damn fun and works fine with the b20 torque band. so, seeing as the h22a is quite a bit longer than the type-r, i think the h23/h22a tranny would be an awesome combo.

Get an H22 Tranny. Try and find a M2B4 (LSD). You'll love it if you have had one yet.

http://www.accordinglydone.com...s.php

that has a BIG list of codes and ratios.

If you want an H22A type transmission but want to keep
similar gearing then get the 97-01 Base Prelude
transmission (M2Y4) it has the same 4th and 5th gears
as your 4th gen Si.
