the b20's preludes use are b20A's; ie b20a3 b20a5 etc etc, where the last number usually refers to the type of head that came on the motor. the crv's use a b20B block, which may have many similarities, but probably wont have too many interchangeable parts. im not sure which parts are interchangeable, but i know the heads are not between the b20a's and the b20b's. what is the purpose for the question? are you shopping for a motor for one or the other? if so, i may have something for you at a very cehap price. just let me know

Basically nothing is interchangeable about the two motors, short of nuts and bolts.

I want to do a B20b build up.

just wonderig if the bottom ends where the same, if they were why wouldn't people use the prelude engine since it would be easier to get?

how are the bore and stroke different on the two engines?

so it would not be as good of an idea to put a prelude engine in instead of a CRV block?

</TD></TR></TABLE>

The two engines are about as different as two different inline four cylinder engines can be from one another. Bore and stroke are only one way the two motors are different. The B20A (Prelude) gets 1955cc from an 81mm bore and 95mm stroke. The B20B/B20Z (CR-V) gets 1972cc from an 84mm bore and 89mm stroke. This is just one reason why the B20B/B20Z is a better motor.

But the differences don't end there. Basically, the B20A is so different that it won't bolt in like a B20B/B20Z. While the B20B/B20Z can easily bolt into a 1988-1991 Civic (with kit), 1992-1995 Civic, or Integra, the B20A won't bolt in without custom fabrication. And this fact makes the B20A a motor that is not even worth considering, as it is not that great of a motor in the first place.
