looking to aquire a 97 gsr w/ 155k on the motor. I was looking to go for a higher compr with some b16 pistons. My question is what else do you think would be good to replace to keep the motor going for another 150k?
How much work are you looking to do, like tear apart the engine or something you could do in a weekend.
For a weekend job I would check timing belt and water pump, see whats goin on with those, maybe replace the cams seals if you can, also do a search on Sea Foam, would definately do that to bring a motor back to life. Change spark plugs and wires, mostly what you can do is just take off and replace what you can see with your eyes, just basic maintainance, either that or call a Honda/Acura dealership and ask them for a print out of recommended service for 120k miles and find out if any of it has been done on the motor yet.
If your looking to spend more, try taking the block to a machine shop and have the rings replaced and have a fresh hone done on the cylinders, as far as the head goes you could have them kiss the head (mill) just a little bit for a clean surface. Your best bet would be to find a machine shop and call them with questions on what to do if your lookin to spend a couple hundred.
