would a Continuously Variable Transmission and a turbo make a good match?

I see more and more cars coming out with CVTs now and wondered what the results would look like with a turbo. They have a definate plus side...you can stay at your peak torque all the time, you dont lose time shifting, and you can cam your car to make a very high and peaky powerband and get away with it. do CVTs have a place in boosting future or do they have some sort of draw-back?

In theory, they're perfect.
In practice, most CVT's are going to have very finite limits as for how much power they can handle. Pushing a CVT much past it's stock configuration would probably smoke the tranny real fast - although the newer ones are getting better.
