1999 Accord Transmission Issue......
I just purchased a 1999 Honda accord ex v6 with 123k which appeared to run fine. But from a stop after its warms up it feels as if the gas petal is stuck. If you press on the gas it is hard to push but will break free once you push hard enough. But because you have pushed so hard it lurches forward and sounds like something is loose drive train wise. Possibly a loose bearing or has some play where the axles go into the transmission. It shifts fine and doesn’t seem to have the problem until it warms up. But when it does start doing it, if you put it in neutral then back in drive it will work for a few then revert back to doing the same thing again. It’s almost as if the throttle cable that runs off the throttle body to the transmission, that lever or flap it pulls is getting hung for some apparent reason.
Also when I first start the car the maintenance light will blink for a few but never stay solid. I have read a lot about the v6 Honda automatic transmissions having major problems and am worried that this might be the start of major problems with the Trans. All the forums just link the Trans failure starting with a leak then starting to slip, or late shift.
Has anyone had the same or similar problems or know how to tell when one is displaying the early signs going bad? My first shift is between 3 and 4 and all the rest shift a little before 3 or right at during normal driving. The guy I got it from was a dealer and assured me there were no problems with the transmission but this doesn’t seem normal to me. Any help or similar problems anyone has experienced would be a huge help.
Have you tried lubing the throttle cable? Your trans sounds like it is operating normally as well so I doubt you need a new tranny. When mine went out it was holding out first and short shifting second. so annoying.
