Default NC ITR owners...

Here's the deal. I'm thinking about purchasing an ITR in near future but I don't want to have to worry about it being stolen.

Does anyone know what the current theft rate is for ITRs around the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area of NC or had any theft experiences around these areas?

I don't think it'll be a big deal owning one in this area, but I would like to hear if any NC ITR owners have had any problems with theft.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Mine was stolen south of the Asheville area once. It was recovered nine days later with only minor **** missing (the most expensive thing was the shift ****). Not exactly right around the corner from Raleigh/Durham, but NC nonetheless.

You should be safer in that area than some others I have heard about. But to make it really simple and serious.... If they want it they will get it..... Buy it, Enjoy it, and most of all, Keep her safe.....

only theft i have heard of is a stolen emblem at the university. other than that. its pretty quiet out here. but i still keep a lookout

There are parts of Durham I wouldn't go through, but Chapel Hill is okay.

true. but then again. raleigh, and chapel hill both have parts that looks bad.

a friend of mine had his 98 GSR stolen last year, first they stole his stock wheels, so he got some SSR comps. then they stole his whole car. found the thing later and was completely stripped, seemed like a chop shop or something.

as long as you are smart about it you should survive the 9one9

Thank you for the replies guys.
I know if someone wants it bad enough they will take it.
I just don't want people stealing stuff off the car.

ITR replica parts are at reasonable prices these days so hopefully that shouldn't be a problem. haha

Nah, it was just once. It was hit-and-run'd in the parking lot, and was broken into once (nothing stolen). Oh, and it was egged as well. Total of all damage between the four claims was around six large. This was in Cary - very nice neighborhood (Lochmere).

Safir (I don't recall his screen name) had his R stolen from a gated apartment complex in Greensboro. There was a known theft ring out of High Point operating back then ('01 I think?).

Agreed. I should have kept that car in the garage from day 1

Then again, you shouldn't HAVE to garage a car to keep it from getting fucked with.
