Depends on what you want. The RSX is more refined, good date car. The Type R is course and has a rough ride, made for racing. Probably pretty close on 1/4 ets, but the R will handle better. Both are good cars.

I would be cautious [sp?] of the 'salvage title' though. Make sure there are no electrical 'fixes' and the chassis is straight.

RSX....you wont have to sweat and lose sleep over whether or not someone is jacking/f'ing with your car

Id be weary about the salvage title, but if youre confident that the car is OK go for the type R is you want performance. Or...you should wait for the RSX type R if it ever comes out.

I'd take a new RSX over a salvaged ITR anyday. The RSX can be modified to perform better than the ITR.

Yea the trype R is clearly the winner in performance,if you want a little more room and a smoother ride go with the RSX.But in my opionion the R is a work of art, there rare and special.

Hey Fuzzynuts,

You're not trying to start trouble now are you?

I wondered how his post here was coming along... And I don't remember him mentioning that the R had a salvage title?

ITR "salvage title", How much are they looking for this one?

A.

duh! Everyone knows the ITR is faster! I don't care what anyone says, but NOT EVERY ITR runs 14.6 STOCK! It is most likely for most RSX-S to run 15.2 than for ITR's to rin 14.6. And I hope you are not "magazine Racing"
THe RSX-S seems to respond well to mods. Just i/e adds like 15 whp.

i was wondering the same thing before the rsx-s came out, and ended up purchasing the ITR because I needed the car. I've been very happy with my car so far though I had never experienced iVTEC - and I have always wondered if I missed on a better engine. The cross over to VTEC in the Type-R is pretty severe and very loud. It's easy to get addicted to stepping down just to cross 5,600 rpm -- just to hear a louder car tone. What did I miss in not waiting?

I just purchased a RSX-S and for the money it is great. I owned a '93 Prelude vtec and the performance is somewhat similar though the ride and room of the rsx is far better. If I had the choice and had to choose now I would go with the rsx. But hey just compare them and go with the one you like the best, you can't go wrong with Honda. But if the ITR has a salvaged title and the rsx is new look for another itr or buy the rsx because if you ever want to trade it in or get something else that title will hurt you.

go with the Type-R!! I personally like the G3 Integ looks alot better than the RSX looks...

Type-R looks very clean. ANd if you can afford it, get the JDM kit. Looks VERY sweet!

Default Decision is not between an RSX and Type-R

The decision point is not between an RSX versus an ITR. The decision point is whether it's worth the risk to pursue a salvagable titled vehicle. Answer = No, don't buy a car with a salvaged title.

RSX's in my opinion are just beatiful cars. I just love them. Maybe I'm a little biased because I own one, I don't know. I like the way the car responds to mods too. Someone mentioned it earlier, I gained 12.34 whp just w/ the i/e. If i could only find the sheet, I would post it.

I think it's the other way around. I don't like the way a teg looks. I would never get a 3rd gen teg. Maybe I would consider 2nd gen. I just don't like the circle lights on the front. That just turns me off.

I would say ITR (not that I'm biased or anything ) But Don't buy something with a salvaged title! Unless you know exactly why it was totalled...

Wow I thought I would never see it a type-R owner who actually knows what he's talking about.

An RSX-S is like a GSR it's basically the same car as the type-R version of it's self just the type-r is faster. if a 01' GSR has what 180hp? and the type-R has 195hp, an 02' RSX-S has 200hp and the type-R has 220hp I think it's common sense that a 02' RSX-S can be modified to out perform a modified 01' type-R.
Please correct me if I'm wrong i'd love to hear it.

It's already been proven even if you haven't read about it.

That is what I was going to say. If the ITR did not have a salvaged title then ITR all the way. However in this situation I would say the rsx. I have driven a rxs type s, it is a great car, but nothing compared to a R.

I was in the same situation before i got my RSX-S it was either a rsx-s or a 2001-R
the options on the rsx were allot better and the car is allot more refined..think of it, you get a/c, leather, heated seats, mirrors, sunroof, smoother ride!! and a new style not one that 7 years old(not that there is anything wrong with the old style)
and there arent to many of the rsx's around like the integras...
and the performance is almost the same...dont let anyone tell you different..the race comes down to driver..although it will do better at the track but how often will you be there???
