Default Just finished Stripping Sound Deadening from my Hatch, but what could i use to get rid of the tar?

I just finished stripping this **** with Dry ice and scraper with a rubber mallet. I used this adhesive remover for the left over adhesive but only to find that it worked So-So. What other suggestions do you guys have on how to get it as clean as this guy did in his write up?
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=525936
Example of his work:

My work. LOL:

Also what could i do about those long Strips of tar without scraping up the metal too much? Its so thick and caked on there. Im trying to find out what type of chemical i could use on there to eat at it and make it soft and easy to scrape off.

This stuff was pretty strong, burned my skin if it was on there for like 30 secs or more. Still not strong enough to eat through that tough tar.

Also when i did the back seat portion(look at the second or third pic) of the sound deadening these caps came off the chasis, they were like glued in from what it looked like. What do i do now? Has this happened to any one else using the dry ice method?

Let me know what you guys think. Im going to attempt next week to clean off the tar completly so its smooth. I plan on having my whole car repainted this summer thats why i stripped the sound deadening. Trying to save some money when it comes to labor when the time comes.

Im a very neat and tidy person so this type of **** Erks me

I dont know about softening it up, but it should help loosen the adhesive. Never removed that stuff before, but if you really soaked down some of the adhesive with that stuff, it *should* wipe right up once its been saturated.

Could try some "Goo-gone" or "Goof-off" whatever its called, worked wonders on my side molding double sided tape on another car of mine.

Thats what i was thinking, what grit do you think would work best? Im probably going to use a sander and some hope.

Also i have a feeling when sanding it im going to penetrate the metal, you guys dont think it will rust right away do ya?

Why do people take out this tar? Does it really weight that much?

only 15 lbs. definately not worth it. if your that much into weight YOU could lose 10lbs or so in a couple of weeks. and plus that keeps all the road noise out so now the car will be hella loud and annoying

The walmart brand of goo-gone, it's in the aisle with the automotive spray paints and car scents. It works A++! Just make sure you have plenty of clean rags, it takes a lot.

I use it to clean up ANY type of hard to remove grease or tar. Put some in a spray bottle, spray it on the tar, and you will start to see it dissolve within seconds

Let me know how everything turns out! I look at it like this...pay lots of money for adhesive remover or pay $2.00 for a big-*** gallon of gas! You'll need to use a bit, but I'd be interested in how it works for you
