Retarded Springs... Calling out for help!
A few months ago i got a set of eibach pro kit and Kyb Agx shocks. Before that, I had a set of ground control coilovers sitting on stock shocks. Now I didnt like the way the GC's were dangling in the back cuz they were short by nature. Hense was the reason I got Eibachs, now with Eibachs I'm loving the ride quality and spring rate and i love the way the back is sitting except now the front is uneven. I been told by Eibach that I should give the springs 5000miles of so to "settle in" well its been over 5000 and the drivers front side is sitting about an inch higher than the passenger side. SO! I was wondering, since I still have my ground control coilovers what if I leave the Eibach springs in the back and put stiffer Ground control coilovers in the front. How would that affect my ride / shock life? Please help?
You could do that. Though I don't think I'd put different spring rates in the front and back. I'd check it to make sure it was installed correctly. The GC coilovers use Eibach springs if you didn't know.
i've double checked the installation for errors and found none. And yes I knew that Eibach makes springs for GC, but the GC's are a lot stiffer springs. They are short and very thick and stiff. Where the Pro kit is a lot longer, wider, and softer. I didnt even need a spring compressor when I installed my eibachs they were so soft that i could compress and catch the top nut with my weight on it. Anyway, I'm not worried about the front being stiffer, I actually would like the front to be a liitle stiffer. I'm just worried about the shock life. The lower and the stiffer the springs are the shorter your shock life is but in combination with soft rear would that increase the wear and tear on the front shocks?
I know you said you double checked the installation, but I have to ask anyways... Did you make sure the spring was completely seated well? What I mean, is that you should be able to rotate the spring clockwise until the end of the coil meets the notch on the spring seat.
You can put GC's on the front... The only real drawback that I can see, is that you will be creating even more understeer than you already have. If that's not a concern for you, then go ahead.
