99 honda accord ex v6 transmission question\possible problem...
I just purchased a 1999 honda accord ex v6 which apeared to run fine. From a stop after its warms up it feels as if the gas petal is stuck. If you press press on the gas it is hard to push but will break free one you push hard enough, but because you have pushed so hard it lurches forward and sounds like a bearing is loose or has some play where the axles go into the transmission.
It shifts fine and doesnt seem to have the problem until it warms up. But when it does start doing it if you put it in neutral then back in drive it will work for a few then revert back to doing the same thing again. Its almost as if the throttle cable that runs off the throttle body to the transmission, That lever or flap it pulls is getting hung for some aparent reason.
Also when I first start the car the maintenance light will blink for a few but never stay solid. I have read alot about the v6 honda automatic transmissions having major problems and am worried that this might be the start of major problems with the trans.Maybe it would be best to get rid of it before I am blessed with a dead car and a major bill. Any help would be greatly appreciated. All the forums just link the trans failure starting with a leak then starting to slip, or late shift.
Has anyone had the same or similar problems or know how to tell when one is displaying the early signs going bad? My first shift is between 3 and 4 and all the rest shift alittle before 3 or right at during normal driving.

For the sticky throttle, have you tried cleaning out the throttle body? Sometimes that's caused by crud build up around the bore where the throttle plate sits.
I have had the same problem with the stiff gas pedal on my 4cyl 1999 Accord Lx. The first time I had the dealer remove the throttle body and clean it in a parts cleaning tank(their recommendation). It solved the problem for about 45,000 miles. The next time it happened I removed the air intake hose from the throttle body and sprayed some throttle body cleaner on the pivot points for the butterfly valve. This solution has worked well for me and it's a lot cheaper. A friend with a 1998 4cyl Accord EX has had the same problems at the about the same mileages.
My maintenance light blinks like you are describing. The maintenance light just measures miles between the last time the maintenance light was reset. As the time between the last reset gets longer my light tends to flash more often at startup. Eventually it will stay on. Look in your owners manual for the reset instructions, it's as simple as holding in the trip odometer button, turning the key on and waiting for an amount of time I can't remember at the moment.
Can't comment on the 6cyl trans issues.
