Hey i have a 99 Dx and iv heard you can use any D16/D15 oil pans and they all work the same. Is this true?? I know the 6th Gen pans are aluminum and older styles are steel but I did hear that the pickup location and baffles are the same. Any one know ?

that is incorrect d series oil pans are the same shell for the most part but the baffels are not all the same and the pick up locations ARE diff. I belive if you want to (i dont fell comfortable doing it , because honda did it for a reason) you can use the matching pickup with the oil pan. my advice would be to buy one used. yea, they are not the same

 

d16y7 are steel while d16y8 are aluminum in the 96-00 models.

all other d's below 96 are steel.

the d15 oilpan will not fit. I believe the only ones you can swap between are the y7 and y8 pans...i have a y7 pan on my y8 with no problems.
