Aluminum MIG'n. What Voltage, wire speed, gas psi for best results?
Im using a 220v Millermatic 175 with 100% argon for gas.
I cant seem to get a bead at all. Just bird droppings. Where should I have the controls set at? Im also unaware of the type of aluminum I am welding, but its the kind you can typically pick up at Home Depot.
Thanks..

add more wire speed or less voltage. i welded 1/4" thick material with about 130 amps and #9 wire speed out of #10 on a hobart handler 135. you really need the wire speed fast as fuc if your doing aluminum and you need to weld really fast as well. you need straight argon (no mix) and i think i had my flow set at 30 or so (i usually run around 18-20 on steel)

Its not gonna work great period for ya no matter what you do. Maybe for messy tack welds, thats about it.
