Default Rear wiper not working - out of ideas

So I just got a EF hatch a couple days ago and Im slowly going through it and fixing the [small amounts of] problems it has. The rear wiper isnt coming on at all; im assuming that im using the correct swicth to turn it on - the on/off switch that is mounted on the same stalk used for the front wipers

I've checked for 12v at the harness - i see 12v and a good ground on 2 of the pins, no matter the switch position. And the 2 other wires have nothing regardless of switch position... So im assuming the wiper has a constant 12v, going to it, but i'd figured it would be turned on by a relay - anyways, is it common for the switch to go bad? Is there another component Im missing?

I'd like to get this thing working, just cause its bugging me! Oh - every other electric part works on the hatch, so I doubt the wiring is kinked.

i really don't know... maybe the motor is burned out. get a multi meter on there and start testing for power.

take it out, your hatch will thank you as it comes down on cold days and hits you in the head

im not taking the cheap way out and deleting it... thats what i did on my vw's cause nothing ever worked and it would take forever to fix everything, but this is a Honda and im sure it'll be an easy fix... just need to get the car in the shop (theres a car going to the crusher thats blocking the door right now).... Tomorrow i'll attack the civic and get it working.

I have an extra motor in case the one is burnt, but i doubt it is - my prime suspect right now is the switch, all fuses are good and the hatch plug is getting some power already on 2/4 wires.

maxt, guaranteed the old wires have bent and come apart from opening and closing the hatch. You'll have to peel back or cut away at the rubber wire loom that is situated between the hatch and chassis (closest to the right hinge). I have the same prob with my rear wiper not working. I'll have to re-wire this and I'm sure you will too.

Mine worked when I first got my 89 CRX Si, but soon after putting a new blade on there for the 1st time, it broke. About the 4th time it rained

I'll defintiely look at the wiring.

Im pretty sure my wiring is still good:

i get a solid 12v on 2 pins when wiper switch is turned on (1 ground)
i get 12v on the 3rd pin when the switch for the rear windshield washer fluid pump is actuated.

there is only 1 ground on the harness and it seems solid.

so im pretty sure the wiring is good, but i will still check out the wiring and inspect it...thanks for the tip
