Bushings/Bearing press
anyone know how much and how a bearing press looks like?? i want to change the bushings on my RCAs but hearing stories of how hard it is to get the old one out. Or is it just worth it to take the RCA to a shop and get it pressed out?
I used one of these http://www.cvfsupplycompany.co....html when I replaced all my bushings with Energy Suspension ones. Although it was 20 tons it was a pain to get them out since they were frozen onto the control arms and it was difficult to get the right angle to press them out. Maybe if I wouldve had different plates I couldve used it more. To remove them I used the combination of blow torch and a chisel to cut through the bearing shell. I can remove them for you if you want for a small fee.
even with that huge machine it was still a pain to get out?? i think ill use my torch to get it out, but is it true you still need to press in OEM bushings?
Well it was a pain using the machine cause I couldnt get it to stay are the right angle so I could press it out. If I wouldve had something to hold it, it would have been easier. Yes you could use it to press in the OEM bushings, I used it to press in some of the poly ones.
