Default strangest wiper problem, and im out of ideas

car: 94 civic dx hatcback / with rear wiper

problem: only the intermitent setting on the wiper switch works, the mist sprays for both front and back window, but low and high settings, and the rear wiper doest work..if its on intermitent, and u switch to low or high, the wipers will just stop right where they are when u turn the switch..

attempts at fixes: i changed the wiper switch already, it does the same with either wiper switch..
checked all fuses, under the dash and under the hood, all are fine and i even replaced some anyway...
wiper motor is fine,it works with the intermitent setting...

does any one have the wiring diagram for this area, what wires are what colors etc so i can trace them..or how to check for power in the low and high setting...

i dont have power windows or locks so theres no fuses in those slots of the fuse box, i even tried adding them, just incase, they were needed for a complete circuit ,that didnt change anything

only other thing out in the interior is the climate controls, lil lights showing what vent selection its on,and the fact that the selections dont change ,its stuck on one setting,..
i dont know if there related in any way ,but just throwing out all possibilities,in effort someone has a fix, knows whats wrong, so i can finally put an end to this search...

i really appreciate any effort put into a solution...

i'm gonna say a resistor of some kind. my heater was doing kinda the same thing, would work fine on 3 and 4, but not at all on 1 or 2. as far as i know a resistor controls the speed of electric motors, so look into getting a wiper motor resistor. my 2 cents.

the wiper doesn't have a seperate resister block like the blower motor does, but it usually does have a seperate relay... i can't remember what it was called (integration relay?). usually attatched to the BACK of the underdash fuse block. that would likely be your cause. if u were to say that the intermittent doesn't work while everything else works fine, it'll be the motor. in your case, it might be the relay. i don't have a wiring diagram for your car, so i can't help u out much further.

much appreciated man, i"ll look into that, although it does click everytime the wipers move on the intermitent setting like it would normally..

i look into the relay or icu, im still interested in the wiring from the switch to the fuse box,and i guess to the wiper motor from there,if any one knows or may have a link...

thanks for the suggestion thus far...

yeap.. isn't that the thing on the back of the fuse box that controls the wiper speeds? it might be reffered to as the "icm" (integrated control module/unit) sometimes.

help understanding is appreciated...lol

heres what i found under my fusebox, two wires cut, dont know where they go or where they went, one is blue with a green stripe,i noticed in the pics u linked me two one shows a blue/grn wire going to the icu, i wonder if thats where the wire the wire goes, i couldnt find the other end to the wire..
a grey wire with a black stripe, totally lost on that one but there both in the same harness of wires, and the blue/grn one is a lil thicker, for some reason i beleive the blue/green wire is my power for low/high setting, and for the rear wiper...

i wish i had a digi cam to make things simpler, but i appreciate all the effort u guys are giving me to help resolve this issue im having..

just for clarification, the car is my best friends, but seldomly gets to post(94egcivic) so being that i can post here at work all day im doing the legwork on the forum for him...thanks again everyone..

there are a couple blu/grn wires in that area. Unfortunatly honda does this from time to time. Makes electrical problems that much more fun. (rolleyes)

The only way to be sure what the wire is, is to check it with a multi meter and find out if it changes with switching the wiper switch.

the gray/blk wire is not related to the wipers at all according to the manual. I'm not sure what that wire is yet. But I'm still looking...

Test the wiper motor. I have have replaced a few of these motors similar to your symtoms...
if you got one around. just swap it out... good luck.

the blue/green wire is thicker than most of the wires down there, most are tiny, maybe about 18 20 guage, but then theres the blue/green and a few others that are about 14-16 guage..

the gray/black wire... is there an aftermarket alarm in there that you don't know about? gray/black is usually the wire color that they use for a ground switched output. like power locks or aux output.

i just noticed that you said the rear wipers don't work too... i'm looking at a wiring diagram for the wipers, and the front and rear wipers don't share any circuits. meaning, one malfunction shouldn't affect the other. the only thing in common is the wiper switch, and even then, they use different circuits within the switch.

just letting you know... you might have more than one cause of your problem/s.
