Default 14.5 seconds in 1/4 mile?

So I have a 5th gen and want to hit 14.5 in the 1/4 mile with no nos or turbo or anything like that. I currebntly have a fidanza flywheel, ACT HDSS clutch, Iceman C.A.I, about to purchase a header and exhaust. Now what? For the header is there anything in between something like a $1500 SMSP/Hytech and a $300 DC Sports? And I assume most exhaust is going to give the same sort of gains. The I assume a VAFC, and then where to go from there for a 14.5 time???

take your passenger seat out when you race, and race on a little less than a quarter tank so your car is lighter...

Prospeed headers are good. they range from 500- 700 dollars

go get yourself a custom 2.5in exhaust and n1 tip kteller sells kits for 5thgens. lighter rims good suspension, motor mount inserts help get more power to the ground. i ran 14.7 with just n1 catback. stock cat, spoon rims falken azenis, aem short ram. agk kyb on stock springs. oh and best be a good shifter. my best times were feathering the clucth at 5.5-6k

Its a decent number. Most cars on the street are high 15's and the so called sports cars are usually somewhere between mid to low 14's (g35,srt-4,RSX-Type R)

- get lighter rims/battery (20lbs)/carbon fiber hood/trunk lid
- remove spare tires and interior stuff
- Go on a diet
- Drag radials

Personally, I would think that practice is the best way you can reach the time with all supporting mods. With practice, I improved from 14.9 down to 13.7.

Good luck!

I think with your mods you should already be close to mid 14's. Get better at driving. You should get there no problem. I know a guy that ran a 14.5 in a 4th gen with intake. Its all in the driver.

Haha don't worry about 14s go boost and hit 13s with much higher trap speeds. Txl, you chopped off 1.2 seconds off of just shifting better? what were you doing poping it in reverse for a launch?

get a short shifter and intake you should have no trouble hitting the 14.5.
if you want faster get the dc headers or mugen and a good set of shocks tokico are my my advice with a lowering springs and the most important tires need a great set of tires.

14.5 is kinda slow to be wanting to spend that much on a header.....

shoot for 14 flat.....i have a trust (jdm greddy, probably the same) h22 header and import builders did a custom 2.5 inch collector on it, i have that mated to an apexi gt spec catback....very comparable to my friend who has a prospeed header and an apexi n1 catback, the piping is the same on the apexi systems, just the muffler is differen, so no perf difference....

worked for me, but then again I had a 4th gen so I dunno

something about the way those merges look doesn't appeal to me. every other high performance h22a manifold I've ever seen merges further away from the ports and at a greater angle..

not to start ****.. but is that just a picture of some pretty pipes or does this thing really perform? Post up some #'s.. I'm curious.

I know cody knows what hes doing. One of his all motor headers was tested untuned against a toda header tuned for the R motor. His all motor header was only a few peak hp under the tuned toda header. Stainless steel and 800 bucks. Deal.

ive seen FAT people drive their cars and they talk about getting a CF hood and such to save weight, when they weigh as much as 2 people...

......... and it's a one-piece, not a two. So you have to pull the radiator and other front end stuff to get it in??

Too much work when the SMSP is a two piece and proven.

Not knocking the guys work, just seems like a more practical header for a swap car versus a Prelude.

I think that the collector has to be lengthened because the 5th gen is a little longer than the 4th gen.
