5th gen immoblizer bypass?
ya, i'd like to know that too. coz when i bought the car, it only came with one black key. and honda said there is no way to get just the red (mother) key that is required to program other black key. the only way would be buying the whole thing including the immoblizer, keys, and remotes which is gonna cost hundreds...
you do not need the red key to program other keys... all you need is a key with the program. so go to the dealer and have them copy the program from the original key to another T5 key. I've had it done several times.. the red key is to rest the immobilzer you really dont need it at all.
You can get a bypass here, among many other places - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3362.html
I've used literally hundreds of them in the past, many different kinds, they do the job. Some require you sacrifice a key, some don't.

you don't need the old key. you just need the key you want to use the ECU with.
reprogram at the dealer is ~$75.

that's how much i was charged.
seeing as they're the only ones i know of that can get it done in 1 day, and have the right equipment, i was ok with it.

You can use that bypass without a remote start, just wire it to trigger from the ignition instead of from a remote start module. You could always goto the dealer like the others are saying and just get a new key.

You don't code keys, you code them into the car. That's how it works. And to do that, you need that damn red key.

You can also try the byspass at bypasskit.com. They have one specifically for 5th gen Prelude and doesn't require to waste a spare key. I have it and it works great. But then, I wouldn't wanna give up my immobolizer for security reasons...unless you don't care to have your car stolen. Just get the whole new immobolizer system, which is about 200-300 dollars.

wrong, very wrong.. sorry but you can copy keys, some if not most dealers have machines that can program a key to your car by simply copying it. all it is are magnets..
here is the TSB on how to use the machine they have at honda

and NO, the red key does NOT program more keys to the car, if you want to add keys or add a different key with a different code you will need to have it done by a dealer.. the red key is used when serviceing anything in the immoblizer unit, eirther the unit itself or the ECM.. in NO way does the red key "program" anything.. it resets, or "assist" in programing by a dealer..

We're both right here. They can program only "Ilco programmable key blank" keys, but not the genuine Honda keys. Genuine Honda keys are hard coded. And I guess not a lot of dealerships heard about Ilco.

I never said that the red key itself programs other keys. What it does, is it lets you start programming black keys into the system...and also resets all keys that were previously programmed into the car. I watched the guy do it and he couldn't get anything done, because the software was asking to insert the red key into the ignition to proceed. Just think of the red key as some kind of a security password.
