Default Dyno Results...

Well, yesterday was the first of many tuning sessions for my new beast. I went up to see Dan at GodSpeed, just about the only guy who can tune a Power FC near me. He has the FC Datalogit program, which allows you to see the whole map and edit with a keyboard instead of the someone cumbersome Commander. The first pull netted 191whp. We had one run up to 196whp, but after that I think heatsoak became a factor. After about 10 pulls we ended up with this graph:

And here is the A/F graph:

http://img.photobucket.com/alb...2.jpg

As you can see, it still needs a lot of work. At the end he said it was idling like it had a vaccum leak and that the A/F was acting weird, and jumping rich a lot. As we were unhooking the car, we found that both cam gears were retarded 6*. Well, that explains a lot. Anyway, we ran out of time, because he really squeezed me in on short notice. I have another appt. on April 2nd to get the cam gears where they need to be and clean up the A/F.

All in all, I'm very impressed with the Power FC. Mac from Autowerks stopped by and talked about the history of my new car, and said that with the Hondata, they could never get the car to idle right and never get good power (185whp tuned on a Mustang Dyno). The amazing precision of the Power FC allowed for some good power to be extracted from an interesting setup. Dan is a great tuner.

My set up can be found here:

Thanks,
Andrew

Thats funny how Mac thinks he knows about the car. He never had anything to do with it. The car idled fine before and not sure where he got the power number.

a lot of the stuff he was saying wasn't matching what went on the car, so I took a lot of it with a grain of salt. No offense to him, he's a great guy and all.

Anyway, I'll keep you all updated.

I actually recommended Dan tune the car because he had a Power FC years ago on his ITR

I was never really in the "Dan-sucks" club, but I was just a little surprised that he'd gotten business from someone in the ITR forum.

yup, he actually had an R back in the day. He got out of Honda's, I guess it was a been-there-done-that thing. He did R&D work for Toda, though, and has a lot of experience with the Power FC. He knows what he is doing, and some of the old school tricks still work well for him. He does have a GodSpeed/Toda package that he'll put together for customers...but he mainly focuses on the WRX/EVO crowd now.

yeah, Pete was telling me about that. I never actually talked to Dan directly about it, but from the way he was talking about parts Pete wanted to buy and Toda products in general, its possible. I guess it explains why he only sells Toda.

Dan Ponze was on the CHiP mail list before H-T days. He had a '98 Integra a few numbers away from mine... I guess he sold it around 2000?

He seemed like a real cool guy, never met him in person.

Anyone have a link to a "Dan-Sucks" fan club thread? I'm interested in hearing about it.

you and fan clubs...

BTW, you still gotta help come up with a name for the new caR and then create a fan club for it.

As far as Dan, his s/n on here is God (you can tell he was here early to catch that name), but he doesn't post anymore and I don't think the archives go back that far...all I could find was some random test pipe sucks threads and such. It was also sad for me to see someone actually register a domain name relating to Dan in a not so nice matter, its pretty stupid and immature. Especially since I know how Dan is, and I've never had a problem with him. He has helped me a lot before for no reason other than he is a nice, fair guy.
