Default GSR cluster Not working in 89 SI

Okay so i wired in my GSR cluster as the diagram showed. The problem is that nothing is working other than the turn signal indicators and the high beam indicator. Since i have an 01 GSR swap in the car do i have to run some wires from the cluster directly to the ECU? If so what ones?

was the diagram you followed for a 90-91 cluster? The pins are different between 88-89 and 90-91, and most of the write-ups I've seen are for the later cluster.

follow the back of the cluster not some diagram. that way you KNOW if its right or not. its quite easy to tace the lines on the back of the luster and see what lines do what.

This blows. I cant get crap to work on this damn cluster. Ok so i got the seatbelt light to work now along with the turn signals and high beam indicator. The tach works but is really jumpy and is not correct. Anyone have any suggestions. I have tried and tried again with no luck. The gas gauge keeps going up and up till it maxes out and the same thing with the water temp gauge. As soon as u start the car is goes right to hot immediately. Can I get all the readings right from the ECU? If so what pins?

Brock, Check that post I sent you.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=900172

Thats the original post from when I bought the cluster, also heres a quote from the person who made the cluster.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by jdm_cars &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
Another solution for you is simply to get any 94-97 cluster, RS, LS, SE, or GSR, take the ITR Gauges and Carbon Backing and transfer those to your 94-97 Cluster, After the transplant is done everything will work perfectly as if it was a 94-97!!!

OK, I tell you what.... if you buy it from me, I think I have an extra 94-97 Cluster I can use to swap the parts you need to make this ITR gauge Cluster work in the 94 wiring. I'll do the change over for you to work in a 94-97 wiring. (I have done this before and it works perfectly afterwards!)</TD></TR></TABLE>

He modified the cluster to work on 94-97 wiring.

The wiring I gave you should be matched to the cluster ( 94-97 ) Yes that cluster is a newer cluster but in the post the seller described how he changed it over to 94-97 spec.

Okay so here is the update. I need to convert this cluster back to the 01. The actual electrical wires are different on the 94-97 than what the 01 Type-R internals need. The power for the tach is on the same line as the signal for the water temp. So you cant run half of the things on the cluster without shorting things out.

Yea the guy who made the cluster said it works when you wire it up as a 94 with a 94 pigtail which i provided. Did you speak with this person? I never got to wiring it up so im kinda lost.

well thats not true
the actual connectors on the back of the gauges out of the 01 Type-R will not work correctly with the electrical connections on the actual 94-97 cluster. The wires connect to the wrong things and give 12v power to the gauges connectors that need the signal not 12vpower
