Default What pads are you guys using for the Expo??

I've been searching and narrowed the search down to the Axxis Ultimates. They're affordable pads that seem to be pretty effective. Do any of you guys use these on the track and would they hold up at the Expo? I'm debating if I want to install them prior to the 10hr drive up there or put them in prior to running them on the track when we arrive.

TIA

Axxis Ultimates are great pads for street use and light track duty.
I'll be using them to get to and from Expo and normal DD, and for track I'll be ordering Cobalt spec vr Fronts and GT sport Rear.

Me and Bbasso installed the Ultimates on my R before Expo last year. Good bite. I am still a n00b so they are more than adequate for my driving skills. I have done 2 HPDE's and a shlode of Auto-X's on them, they still have meat on them.

VR/GT's F/R on mine. If you're looking for something of less bite in front, go with GT's all around. But if you haven't tracked much at all, Ultimates will do fine for bare minimum.

On a side note, this year I will be upgrading to GT sports before Expo.

Expo 5 should be my 3rd or 4th HPDE, so the upgrade will be a nice addition.

XP9's for me.

For first time track use... Axis are fine.

However, I'd recommend GT Sports for street/autox/track use, however. Much better at all three applications, as the Axis dust awfully bad and the bite goes away a bit after some time on the track....

My Axxis Ults where teh suck at Expo3. Switched to GT-Sports right after that and they have been awesome ever since. Id DEFINITELY recommend the GTSports over Ults at autox and esp track use.

Those with the GT-Sports, do you use both front and rear or a missmatch combo? If so, what rears do you use instead?

I wanted to match F/R with the GTSports, but Andie was out of them at the time, I ordered Hawk HP+ and they have been fine. The rears dont matter a whole heck of a lot, but its nice to have similar balance I suppose.

I ran Ultimates f&R at least years Expo and they're a pretty good track pad, they're a great street/autox pad though.

I'll be running Spec VRs front and Ultimages rear this year

Hawk Blacks front and O'Reilly crap pads rear on my Civic Si. I switch to them (and rotors) when I get to the event when I put my track tires on.

I ran Axxis Ultimates and they went away after 10 laps. They dust a lot also.

Now is that a good idea?

I love the combo of both F/R GT's. I run these on the street and have run these at SP on my EP. It's a bit much for daily driving, since there is noise and excessive dusting.

I am not impressed with the Axxis Ultimates at all. I will be switching back to the Carbotech Panther Plus, or I may try the Cobalt GTs this year.

I will be using Hawk HP+. I love them things... except for the break dust that turns to concrete once it gets wet.
