It never ceases to amaze me at the people who spend this much on a car, never drive it, then sell it at a huge loss.
I guess most of them have a stable full of cars though... I'd just love to see a Ferarri with 100k miles just once...

Too bad it's not the one of his that was in a Car and Driver issue being compared against a 550...that TR was red and had over 1,000lbft torque if I remember correctly... That would be the ultimate TR if you could get the tires to hook up. John Romero doesn't just have one Ferarri....100,000 is a steal, especially for a rare TR.

i sold id Software a computer back in the day. it was like $20,000 and included an array of 73gb cheeta scsi drives. pretty badass for its day.
i think they use it to backup all the source code.
i also sell stuff to Gearbox software (makers of the oh so popular Counterstrike mod for Half-Life). ive sold them like 6 computers and even got to visit their offices in Plano, TX right down the street where i work!

And, if I do recall right...that same TR destroyed several trannies before it made the C&D article (along with a Norwood-modded F50). I wouldn't buy that thing even if he paid me $40k to buy it.
Also, I don't know how many of you remember Drag Wars @ Ennis in the summer of '99...that F50 cleaned house on a Dodge Viper GT-S w/o even lauching hard...brought home a low-12sec slip on that run. I wish I still had that C&D issue that featured the Norwood cars.

Weak?
hahha, the amount of haters on this board is amazing. That car is a ing monster. It is probably one of the fastest cars you'll ever see driving on the street. Imagine how much props you would get for driving that car around. I would love to have it.

As much as I like Ferraris, does any1 else think that this car looks so dated .. 80s even?? Esp the interior. Now compare that to a 91 NSX or FD. Both of which still to this day do not look like 10 year old designs. At least not to me.
MOTEC Electronic Fuel Injection <----Italian rice or should we call it "Pasta"
sorry but MOTEC makes me laugh after the Motec exhaust on fast and furious.

Might look dated but top speed is well over 200... and the 0-60 acceleration is quick (in the 3+ to 4 second range - mainly because it is really hard to launch it. With a good launch It would probably be in the 2+to 3 second range). Yeah in the C and D issue I think i remember they were also having transmission problems which eventually took the car out...It's a modified Ferarri after all, if it didn't break down after a few runs then people would start thinking there is something wrong with it...
P.S. - I'm going to search for that Car and Driver issue tonight with John Romero's Ferarri's...

Ok, it's the May 1999 Car and Driver issue with the Norwood tuned red F50 and 512TR. And John Romero didn't own those, John Carmack did - the "Doom" creator, originator of the FPS. Anyways here's an excerpt from C&D issue on the launching problem (page 138):
"The Testarossa testing was almost trouble-free, thanks to 24 street-driven months of Darwinian-type break-and-redesign torture testing by Carmack. Running a 24-psi boost pressure---a setting that produced more than 1020 horsepower and 750 pound-feet of torque on the Dynojet---the Testarossa was so powerful that even with active traction control (incorporated in the aftermarket MoTeC M48 engine-control computers; stock TRs don't have traction control), Schroeder found it virtually impossible to floor the throttle in first gear without the car threatening to swap ends. That, and a reluctance of the well-worn gearbox to shift from first to second gear, made for a less-than-impressive 5.1-second clocking to 60 mph---no better than the five seconds flat we measured with a stock Testarossa back in 1986. But the car settled with speed, and look at the quarter-mile figures:12.3 seconds at 130mph versus 13.3 at 107 mph for the stocker. That 23mph increase over the stock TR in the quarter-mile can only be achieved with a serious power bump. Furthermore, the blown Testarossa rocketed from 60 to 160mph in just 12.8 seconds. The stock Testarossa can't even reach 120 mph in the same amount of time from 60."
[sidenote about Schroeder - he was a nice and talented driver/racer - he won't be forgotten (Testing accident about a year ago...
)]
Ok here's the specs for the two cars as tested in C&D:
Car / Power,Torque / weight / 0-60 / 0-100 / 0-130 / 0-150 / 0-170 / 5-60 / 30-50(top gear) / 50-70(top gear) / lateral Gs
512TR / 1178,894 / 3766 / 5.1 / 8.3 / 12.3 / 15.1 / - / 5.6 / 7.6 / 8.3 / .90
F50 / 718,498 / 3080 / 3.7 / 7.7 / 13.4 / 18.1 / 28.1 / 5.2 / 6.2 / 5.5 / .95
