ok i know that vafc's don't alter timing. when you reduce fuel via altering the map sensor reading, the ecu goes to a fuel map with less fuel. doesn't this automatically result in the ecu taking out timing as well? i'd like to hear some feedback from hondata tuners, as i think they would be most familiar with itr fuel and timing maps
when you reduce fuel, your "hiding" voltage to the ecu from the map. This puts your fuel and ignition values at higher vacuum levels thereby, increasing timing so you had it backwards.
The less load an engine has, the more the timing can be advanced. So, the part of the ignition maps with greater vaucuum have more advance in them. Reducing the fuel in the VAFC makes the computer think there is more vacuum, so it looks up values farther to the left in the fuel and timing tables. It is there that it gets the smaller injector values, but also the more advanced timing values.
Moral: Removing fuel with a VAFC causes the timing to advance.
