Default valve cover gasket install...tips for no leaks

Like most things on a Honda the gasket is never enough, I have never done an h22 valve cover, but Honda bond has been my friend for a long time when I had a civic, can someone give me some feedback on the h22 cover, where to use some sealant, etc.

Thanks, J

honda bond in each corner and where the gasket makes a change in direction (i.e.: cam seal, dizzy, cam gears, etc.). no leaks then.

yea, he covered it right der. Also make sure the spark plug o-rings are cool. If they are torn or worn replace them.

I put a thin layer of gasket seal around the whole strip. Hasn't leaked yet

yeah, I did the same. I just put it all over the gasket, not the spark plug gaskets but the valve cover gasket. I hope the more the better applies to this application.....

I also did this and it works like a charm never had any leaks but this was after reusing it. When it was new i just bolted it up with gasket sealer anywere were it changed direction. Make sure to torque it correctly in the right sequence also.

I don't think you want to put them on all around the gasket? I would put them only where the cam are at....

honda will place them in the corner, you can get by with that fine. That is how i did mine and around the cam seals as well just for added protection. But some people would coat the entire gasket. I wouldnt like that because it would be a pain to get that crap all over your head and then have to toss the gasket everytime you take off the valve cover. I have taken mine off many times and reused the same gasket. I have only replaced the spark plug ones though because one tore. Now another good sealant is copper spray. I love that stuff!!. Or you can even not use anything on it, just the gasket itself. It is really whatever you want to do.
