Civic HX tranny swap from CVT
I searched, but found no definite answer.
What all would I need to do to change out the CVT auto tranny for a different d-series auto tranny?
Would a jdm CVT tranny just bolt up and require nothing else???

not quite sure here but i'll take a stab at it
You'll probably need a new TCM, flex plate and torque converter. Also probably a new torque converter cover. Thats all I can think of right now.

would that stuff not come w/ an auto tranny if I bought one?
sorry for the "noob-ish" questions, I have just never dealt w/ auto trannies, much less a CVT

i think the flexplate would be the same. my main concern would be the engine wiring harness. get one from an EX auto. the cvt and standard auto trannies have different connections and plugs.
torque converter may be different, but i would think that would be included with the transmission assembly.

i would think the axles are the same.. but i'm not sure.
look in the service manual and see if there's a difference in connections on the wiring harness.

whats up with you throwing "JDM" around?
Anyways... I ran into the same question couple months ago back when I got my HX. The swap is pretty much bolt on except you need an ECU from that Tranny. Because the CVT tranny runs a **** LOAD different. Its nothing like normal everyday transmissions.
Since you know more about Manual transmissions why not just do an auto-manual swap? CVT tranny will run you around 1k+ you can do an auto-manual for around 500$. You'll be satisfied.
I was able to find someone who fixed my hella messed up tranny for just 300$. 6 months later its still running strong. When it breaks i'm doing Auto-Manual swap though.

I am not just throwing the word jdm around, there is an engine importer that I found that seperates the CVT trannies and sells them off, therefore, it is a jdm cvt tranny. I was just asking if they were any different than ours.
I have also thought about doing the auto-manual, but in that case I am also not sure what I would need. Yes, I have searched and have the list to do a DX/EX auto-manual, however there is limited info on the hx, and I just want to make sure that it is the same process to switch it over.
So if I can come across a DX auto tranny, and a DX auto ecu than I can just switch those two in for the CVT and the HX ecu?
