Default SPOON gauge cluster question

Hi I was wondering how does people read the kilo to mph? I remember reading here that some guy used a device.

Thanks,
Brian

convert it in your head? It's really not that hard but if you want a device, they do exist

There is a device but it is a waste of money IMO. Just look up the conversion for kilos to miles (its like .6kilos=1mile or something like that) and make a chart. It may sound dumb but that's what I did for the first couple of weeks then after that its like second nature. I only remembered the important ones for me. The most common speed limits here are 35, 45,50,55,60, and 65. After that it doesn't matter cause after that is illegal.

the part isn't worth the money.. just figure out where every 20mph is and remember it while your driving.....

very easy conversion you can do in your head:

for every 40km/h you're moving at about 25mph.

40 --> 25
80 --> 50
120 --> 75
160 --> 100

* it's not the exact conversion but it's a very "mnemonic" way of remembering.

100km/h = 62.1mph

30km = 20mph
80km = 50mph
120km = somewhere around 70-80 I think

Thats what I have memorized (20 is neighborhood speed limit, 50 is when the cops have their limit on speeding, and close enough to 45 and 55 which are the avg limits around here). I usually just go with traffic until I see a cop, then I adjust for that.

That would be the Techtom cmx-100. Plugs into the OBDII port. Reads MPH and any CEL light that flashes.

I still have the Apexi RSM that I had along with my Spoon Cluster (both for sale btw) RSM read in MPH as well as a bunch of other functions, it also lit up Amber matching the factory dash lighting.

Exactly.....

It's 1 Kilo to every 1.6 MPH...hence the 160 -->100
Doing the conversion from MPH to kilo's is simple math...

P.S....It's not just the Spoon cluster that reads in kilometers, all JDM clusters do. So I dont see how this is strictly Spoon gauge cluster related
But whatever...the spoon cluster is pretty, well at least I think mine is...

I multiply the speed by 6 and then take out the last number.

20*6= 120=12
40*6= 240=24
100*6=600=60
130*6=780=78

It's not super acurate but it gives you a good idea.

I have the SiR cluster in my EG. Say you are going 40km, divide that number in half and you get 20. Drop the 0 off of 40 to get 4 then add the 4 to the 20 so you get 24. If your going 100km divide it in half and you get 50 drop one 0 off 100 and you get 10 add it to 50 and you get 60.

It's a quick way to figure out how fast your going when you first get a km cluster. Once you have it for a while its just second nature to know how fast your going.
