Zeal suspension users, need feedback on springrates:
I've recently converted the EG civic brackets on my Zeal B6s to fit ITR. The springrates don't exactly match ITR specs and since I've already dished out the money for new SWIFT springs I wanna get some feedback on what you guys are using.
I'm thinking: 12F/8R (hard) or 10F/6R and I've heard of someone using 11F/9R.
The car is going to be mainly daily streeted but will see auto-x events from time to time.
What are your guys' feedback on using those springrates for: daily, track, auto-x, etc. BTW 12F/9R was too harsh for me in a fully gutted EG. Since the R will not see any interior stripping at all and weighs more would the ride be a bit softer on harder springrates?

i'm sure some of the hardcore guys will call me out...
but i think 10/6 personally is the most i'd go if it's daily driven. i've never driven 12/8 daily, but when i did get to, though it was a blast, it was harsh for my taste.
if the roads you drive on are more or less well paved, it might not be so bad.

if u ordered SWIFT springs, you might want to go higher on the spring rates. Call them up and Jeff will tell you their springs are not like any other springs. Most linear springs are still a progressive rate spring. Swift springs will stay at the rated rate till 80% of compression then start to increase. Other springs only measure the first inch or two of compression. So Swift springs tend to be softer even if you compare Tein spring at the same rate. On my super functions I use 20k and 16k, but because its a swift spring i will go higher on the rates. On your street car i would go 14k and 10k.

Hmm so SWIFTs are softer? And the Zeal basic springs are progressive? Anyhoo I'm getting SWIFTs so I guess I'll consider 12/8s then. OF course when it gets unbearable I'll scrounge up some pocket change and lower the rates later on lol.
Wow I have 12/9 swift springs on my S6's and I love them. I live in the NE where the roads SUCK and its still not bad. Also I switch between my stock wheels and 16" TE-37's and I still don't mind driving far. In fact I leave the shocks set on like 3-4 because anything lower and it begins feeling a little bouncy.
Now my buddies Spoons with like 16/14K are ROUGH. Those throw the back of the car around like crazy on these roads.

I had 16/14 on my superfunctions and that was HARSH!! I have since swapped them and they are now 12/14. Tail end is way too happy so I will probably swap to 14/12 by the end of the month. My ideal spring rates would probably be 12 10/8 since i drive on the street 95% of the time.

No, SWIFTS are lighter, as I believe they're hollow. Rates would be the same, but I remember hearing something about them sagging sooner than the non-SWIFT springs. The basic springs would be linear as well.

I have 14/12 spoon springs on my N1's and on our crap roads theyre more than comfortable. I knwo someone with 10/8 on his zeals and his car is crazy hard compared to mine, his back end skips on the slightest rough surface...i think he uses zeals own springs though
In the Type R I had 14/10 on Tein RE (aluminum bodied coilover a lot like the Zeal S6) and it was too stiff for our great roads out here in Phoenix. Car would bounce through corners with even minor undulations.
I have 450#/500# on re-valved Konis in the M3 and it is perfect for street driving/track days. That is about what....7k/9k or so??? Probably less...not that it compares
Point being...stiff *** suspension is only good in certain situations. The suspension's main job is still to keep the tire in contact with the road, which is difficult to do on bumpy roads with a too-stiff suspension

20kg and 14kg @_@
Too crazy for me lol. I'm getting old and my back's starting to hurt
I ended up going with SWIFTs in 12/8, thanks everyone for the feedback.
Edit: BTW, what makes Eibach springs any better? I've used them before, nothing special. I've also used ground controls which I believe is also made by Eibach, nothing too special there either.

They are some of the highest quality springs out there, I wouldnt trust anything else. When you get your swift springs in, send them to eibach to see if they are actually at their advertised rate.
