Fuses
Hey there, how can i remove and replace the fuse to make the engine check light go off? I'm not sure where the fuses are. I have a 99 honda accord. I'm pretty sure the engine check light came on as a result of me not screwing the gas cap all the way on tight.
Open the right-front door, there's a fusebox in the end of the dashboard, near the upper door hinge. With the car off, pull the #13 fuse for a minute, put it back in.
That resets the ECU, but if you haven't fixed the problem the check-engine light will come back on. OTOH, if it was actually your gas cap, it would quit coming on after some number of driving cycles after you fix it.

you're supposed to pull the fuse underneath the hood. pull the backup ecu fuse and radio fuse for 5-10 min. then put them back in and run your car at idle for 5-10 min.
either that or just disconnect your battery negative terminal for the same amount of time.

I pulled fuse 13 this morning on the passenger side for a few seconds. Light is gone. Has come back all day. I did not check to see if it went off in the first place by itself this morning before I pulled the fuse. I don't know whether i fixed the problem, or the light went off on its own.
