What do you use the car for?
What is your driving style?
What type of alignment do you have on the car?
Why do you want the drop? Performance or looks? (primary reason)
Answer these questions first, then you might get some real answers. I could easily suggest 20 different setups, none of which might be right for you.

If you have $1,400. Buy a set of Mugen Lowdown coilovers. They are amazing "drop-in" setup that was tailor made for DC2 ITRs.
Some people will argue that the Mugen Lowdowns are "over-priced", "not aggressive", "weighs too much", etc., but from a personally experience that I will tell you that this is one setup that is FREE of headaches for mostly street use + occasional "casual" autoX & track days.
It has 5 setting. 1 = just like stock. 5 = a bit stiffer than stock, but not jarring.
I loved my lowdowns. Perfect drop, perfect setup for street, perfect perfomance for my needs.

p.s. I think someone is selling a used set. You might want to look into that.

Is your car stock now?
What's the current mileage?
When you say "next summer" do you mean this coming summer 2005 or next summer 2006?
What's your budget? This is also a big factor to take into consideration. "Not so expensive" is kind of vague.
If you're looking to do track events this coming summer, don't yet have any track experience, depending on the mileage and condition of your current stock setup,
I'd leave it stock for the first few events.

A friends who's R was stolen happened to have his Koni Yellows sent out at the time to be re-valved slightly stiffer. He's getting them back soon and has no need for them. He's selling them for $400.00 after the re-valving just to get rid of them. You can throw on some quality springs with these and be good to go. I can put you in contact with him if your interested in purchasing.

I just got an email from my buddy. He got his Koni's back in the mail today. He has told me that they are valved to accept stock Type R spring rates. More or less, he didn't have these on his car to lower it, because he still retained the Type R's factory springs.
If anyone is interested (sorry for kind of thread jacking) send me an IM. The thread starter has first dibs. $400.00 Koni Yellows 2-way dampening adjustment, new re valving, some Comptech goodies inside also.

Save your money, theres no need for ceramic pads. And either Autozone specials or Brembo blanks are more than adequate for rotors.

In that case and if you're serious about hitting the track, just leave your suspension stock till after at least your first event. Afterwhich you will have a better understanding of what if anything you'd want to change and what characteristics you'd want to preserve or alter.
