Default Which cam for the D15B2?

I've been looking into a cam for my 90 CRX DX. I've already done the MPFI swap, I/H/E, and am looking for a bit more power and don't want to do a swap. I'm looking at Gude and Web cams. Which brand would you reccomend, and if you're running one, did it give you the power you were looking for? (I know both are regrinds, I can't find any sites for Jun (which I believe are not re-ground.))

i've heard nothing but good stuff about the crane import power cams. they're pretty good. a friend of mine got 120 whp and 102 lbs of torque with a crappy i/h/e mpfi conversion the 1500-7500 powerband cam and a 'teggy ecu. he also uses the dx tranny and says that he roasts si's and hangs with gsr's. not sure if it's true... but i'll post up the dyno plot if i get a chance... peace...

no, by type-r i mean a 99 yellow ITR with gunmetal rims. ive seen him at the track many times before, so im pretty sure he has some idea how to race that thing. and yes, he didnt believe it either until i pulled over and showed him my stock D15B2 block with 92 DX FI w/b18 injectors. youd be surprised how much weight you can pull off a DX HB and how much weight is a factor. if you dont believe me, you can come down to tucson, az and see the entire collective racing crew make runs. i havent run it at the track since i converted the FI, but im predicting mid to low 15s at 3100ft elev.

well, from what i hear, a stock ITR hits around 90mph in the 1/4, so yea he technically would have caught me before the 1/4 was over, but not till the end. and honestly, the fact that i pretty much lead the whole race is pretty amazing.

there ya go. the one he had experience with is bot the first grind and the second. the first grind on a d16a6 made about 115 whp with intake and exhaust. the second grind made the 120 whp with a pos i/h/e, dpfi -> mpfi, and 89 teg ecu. he claims that it can be replicated for about 1100 dollars... peace...

No Type R in the US in '99 ...... yellow was 2000, or 2001 ....

My '98 R stock trapped at 93, and that was with 2,000 miles on it, and me having never dragged a FWD before then.

You do the math .......

From what I know, only Crane makes a new core cam for the D15/16. All the others are re-grinds which = crap.

But they ain't cheap!

yeah bone i can tune. that 115 hp run was with no tuning at all. stock restrictive *** exhaust manifold and cat. completely stock except for a powercore intake and brospeed exhaust.

I think I am gonna stay with my D15 now, I got a MPFI in my basement along with two si cams. What is better to use? The 88-91 MPFI or the 92-95 MPFI? What other mods should I do to it to? Bigger pistons, bore out, p&p, valves???

use the 92-95 MPFI, it flows alot better. also, see if you can get yourself some b18 injectors. as far as the pistons, bore, p&p, valves, it all depends on how far you want to go.

I had the Gude 2522 cam in my D15 - it was a fun cam- however- if you have an Si trans I do not recommend it. I used it with an Lx trans and it was a really good combo- torquey and quick and great on the freeway. When I changed my final drive to the Si's 4.250- I noticed the cam drops off on the top end- The only thing I didn't like about my Gude was the fact that being a regrind required the valve adjusting screws to be screwed in farther- past the point of preference- it worked fine- but that is the only thing I didn't like. My gas mileage was around 34-35 with the Si injection AEM CAI, JG Tbody, and DC header. Alot of people bash Gude- but I bought it 7 years ago and put over 120,000 miles on it until I swapped out for a Z6 motor.

audioxtremes, injectors off any b18 motor(c1, c5, etc) are different than any 1.5 or 1.6 injectors. they look the same but they flow more fuel and have better response.
