Hey guys, tried searching and found a lot of info, but didn't seem to find the exact info I was looking for.

I have a buddy who is putting a D16z6 into a 91 HF CRX and we are trying to figure out what tranny to use. He doesn't want to use his HF tranny. So his options seem to be a

89-91 DX tranny or
89-91 Si tranny

Since his car is a HF do you know what axels & intermediate shaft he would need to use with a DX, or Si. Also, would he need to change his hubs?

These are probably easy questions, but as you can guess from my title I'm stupid when it comes to civics and crxs

 

Change it to SI hubs and use the axles according to the transmission.

 

I would use the Si transmission, change to dx/si hubs, and use either dx or si axles.

watch out for 88 trannies, different tooth number or something

 

Here's an easy way to remember this

HF hubs use HF axles (4 speed civic too).
Si/DX (Integra too) hubs use Si/DX axles.

Doesn't matter what trans.

thurr it is, spline count on these cable trannies is the same whether it is an HF, Si, or DX, so your buddies stock axles will work fine, if he keep the hubs stock.
