Sorry... I didn't even search but Yeah. I just did and found that out. I'm relieved somewhat, but still banging my head on the table...
Do u know how much it would cost for that service? I just have a regular 92. No special chip or anyhing like that

or if you have any of the key slots off the car. look at the 4 digit number on the cylinder that is your key code. then take code to the dealership... but either way your going to the dealership no matter what, its better you'll get a cleaner cut key that way

how does that work?
i had the same thing happen to me, i just went to the dealer with a copy of my title and they made me a copy for $4 at the time (3 years ago). I went there this past summer to get some spares made (cause i didn't have any) and they were $8 now.

i assume that they just take the plate number to the DMV, paid a fee, and they off with all the information about your car.

they did a special on 60 minutes or 20/20 a year or so ago with this exact thing. They got like 10 VINs from different manufacturers and only asked like 3 times for any type of ownership proof. They had a girl do it and she sweet talked a couple of the guys into doing it for her. It was quite informative but funny.

That's why I swapped complete locksets with a friend of mine. Now the VIN and locks don't match
Okay, I haven't actually done it, but I've thought about it!
