Fastest man in drag racing? (Linkage). Video clip included.
the fastest they seem to have on any of those clips is a 4.35 @317 but I've watched a **** load of top fuel racing in the last couple years and I could almost swear that that run looked way quicker and faster then the 4.5s you see all day in top fuel. I read somewhere in there that hes gone 3.5s (which is nuttier than a ******* squirrel turd - wow!) and I'm wondering if the description for that clip isn't right and maybe its faster and quicker than a 4.35. I don't know **** though so whatever..
EDIT: This is from one of those websites:
Sammy ran this 1976 Mustang II (later re-bodied as a Vega) and set track records everywhere he raced. Here are some numbers: 1/8th mile 1.91 seconds; 1/4 mile 4.40 seconds -- both on a shut-off run at Englishtown in June of 1977. He also ran a (are you ready for this?) 3.58-second 1/4 mile pass at Zanvoor, Holland, in 1985 where there were no speed restrictions.
So this makes a ton more sense. In that clip where he went 4.35@317, he was having to shut the car off way early becuase of speed restrictions. I just had a feeling from looking at how that thing covered the 1/8th that it was moving faster than that. Because even if he went all out and got a 4.35, his mph would be in the 340s. WOW! I wonder how fast his 3.58 1/4 run was. obviously over 400.
EDIT AGAIN: I did some more research on this "Rocket Man" Sammy Miller and it said that he to this day holds the record for the quickest and fastest 1320 run in the world: 3.58@386.
