'94 Accord LX auto- rpms at 70 mph??
I just hit 150k on my car, and had a major service done. major tune-up, clean throttle body, change trans fluid, air filter, etc. Had trans flush about 10k miles ago. t-belt and h20 pump done @ 95k.
I've noticed during cold weather, the temp needle NEVER goes past 1/4. On a day like today, windy in the 30s, it almost doesn't register. When cruising at 70mph the tach it exactly at 3,000 rpm. However, on an unseasonably warm day (yesterday) in the 60s, the temp goes about 1/3 of the way up, and I will then notice another shift around 55 mph and at 70mph it cruises at about 2,600 rpm. My mechanic (specializes in Hondas) says 3,000 rpm is normal on the older Accord autos, but interestingly on warmer days I feel a 5th shift (overdrive??) and it cruises lower at 70mph.
Any ideas?
Thanks
