whats the difference in PERFORMANCE?

i wouldn't really worry about it though. there is alot of it, and removing that little bit would be neglagable

Also, inverting the coilover places the shock body (and therefore oil inside) further from the brakes, theoretically this would keep them cooler. Most inverted designs feature much thicker piston rods, too.
