Hi guys, I'm looking in to buying a 2002 accord se. My question is are the engine serial number and the auto VIN suppose to match?

 

Not exactly. There's an engine serial # stamped onto a flat spot on the side of the block, near the flywheel.

Beginning in '96(?) all engines & transmissions ALSO had to carry a metal tag stamped with the VIN, which is usually riveted into the block towards the bottom near the oil pan.
