Nope, it's a pretty straight forward swap. I put a B16A SIR II (that's OBD1 if you didn't know) into my 92 teg. No real problems, just a few minor stupid things. But you'll get that with pretty much any swap.

Head over to http://www.g2ic.com and make sure to check out the engine swap guide in the Teg Tips section. It'll give you a nice writeup of things you'll need, etc.

Good luck with it!

i put an obd0 b16 into my 93 teg. only problem i ran into was trying to get ahold of an ecu. obd0 ecu's are everywhere and obd1's are all in other peoples cars, it sucks.

problems you might have questions about:
dizzy plugs are different
3 ways to get around it, buy obd1 dizzy, use LS dizzy w/ saw'd off leg, swap dizzy plugs from the LS dizzy to the b16 dizzy

my harness wont plug into the b16 injectors
thats because you shouldn't run the low impediance obd0 injectors w/ your ecu, run the ones from your LS, if you use the b16 harness, make sure to keep that resistor box in tact or else you'll have one cooked computer.

really, thats all the problems that i can remember anyone asking me about. i recommend the obd0 b16 swap because its cheap you also get a really sick tranny with it (2nd craziest gear set in the honda b-lineup next to DB2's and obd1 xsi's) as long as you get a j1 or an s1. if you get the y1, i'm sorry.

mojo -

I'll have to agree that 3.5 is right that bang for your buck, the 1st gen (OBD0) B16 is the best bet.

But from my experience, it's worth the extra $$$ to get the 2nd gen (OBD1) B16. First off, you won't have to worry about any of the sensors, plugs, etc. By that I mean that your current B18 harness will work for everything (distributor, injectors, etc), minus the VTEC (but you would have to wire that up anyway as I said, regardless).

Also, you do get the extra 10hp (and 4 ft/lbs torque I do believe.)

As I said, 3.5 is right, a 1st gen B16 will be cheaper. But, I did get my JDM B16A SIR II for just over 1,500 SHIPPED. And that included engine, all accessories (P/S, A/C,etc), tranny, ECU, complete wiring harness, even fuse box, and a bunch of other goodies. Had a 90 day warrenty (more then the usual start up warrenty) and even included tranny (if it grinded, i'de get a replacement free of charge). Not to mention I got the engine one day after I paid for it (paid Monday, had it Tuesday afternoon). Granted, they were in Jersey and I'm in PA, but still...btw that was a seller on ebay, ID: enginedepot .

So either way, go for it, I'de just recommend the 2nd gen bc its literally drop in, the OBDs are the same, and hell, you get 10 more HP Lol.

Good luck!

it wasn't an SIR motor if it was a direct bolt in. SIR 2's have hydro clutches, DA's have cable, you probably bought an obd1 xsi swap (obd1 pr3 ecu, and ys1 tranny). the only different plugs are the dizzy and the injectors. use your obd1 DA harness, it plugs into all except those things. from what i've seen online most 2nd gen obd1 DA xsi swaps are 1800 before shipping, so about 2100 after shipping. my obd0 was 1100. i think its better to deal w/ those two things (and wiring up vtec, you'll have to do that either way) than to pay 700 dollars more.

I did a b16a swap on my JDM teg...lots of hassle! But mine did start out life with a JDM ZC motor, so go with the other guys posts as far as fitting is concerned.

Hasport/Full Race do a sub-harness for the extra O2 sensor, the knock sensor, the vtec solonoid and the vtec oil pressure switch. It's around $70 or so, makes a very professional looking and neat witing job, all the correct plugs come on the harness too. Well worth the cash! check out http://www.hasport.com and give them a call.

Good luck.

dont deal with the 2 o2 sensor b16 manifold, just re-use your LS mani. they both flow the same and with the LS you wont have to worry with fitment issues.
