Default wich air/fuel gauge should i get?

Hey guys, wich is the better, cooler gauge?
(price doesnt matter, there basically the same price anyway.

also whats the difference between mechanical and electric? and isnt there a way you can test these to see what they look like when there on by puttin one of the wires on the pos battery or something? if so wich wire goes on pos and wich on neg? Sorry, im dumb. the wire colors are black, purpl, red and white.

Neither one is going to be particularly useful except as a light show, so just select the one that you like the appearance of more.

If you're looking for a small a/f gauge that can fit in the opening under the radio I have a Halmeter AF10 for sale. It has a 10 LED display and is compact to put almost anwhere. I'm asking $45/shipped.

It's exactly like this:

lemme know if you are interested!

trust me, the gauge is useless. i had hoped to be able to do something useful with mine when i got it (i had credit at the store, and had to use it up, so what the heck, why not, right?). waste of time and i could have gotten some new wiper blades or maybe some oil. would have been more useful. the only thing it tells you is when the computer thinks you're flooring it. wow. like i couldn't tell on my own when it goes to open-loop. get wideband. or make one

sure. i'm an engineering student in Tampa, FL. made a good friend last year. the guy's name is Mark, he's the engineer hired by the physics&math department to fix all their physics equipment, like oscilloscopes, power supplies, computers, and also physical things non-electric. he's got 7 engineering degrees. he helped make a couple nice things for my car . i think total parts tab at radio shack was like $35-$40. now i have a custom multimeter/air/fuel ratio gauge thing. it's kinda neat. wish i was an electrical major, but i hate electrical stuff. too dam confusing with so many different little things all over. i'm mechanical major myself. i'll be home this coming week and i'll take a look at it and if i can figure out what the heck we did last semester, i'll post a how-to. or maybe i'll bring it back to him the week after. PM me monday after this coming or email me then theantiles@aol.com. i'm kind of forgetful sometimes.

I have an SPW, removed my dimmer switch and put it in that hole with a little dremeling. i like it because its completely black when parked just looks like the dash.

dam yo, nice install. makes me want to do that now. but i hate drilling or messing with stock interior parts, especially a big one like the dash.

It literally took 5 minutes, when you take out the dimmer switch there is some white plastic behind the dash that holds it in place. I just took my dremmel and sanded that down until I could snuggly push the gauge in there. Fits really really snug and doesnt move at all.

I was apprehensive at 1st, but I just sanded and test fit like 10 times until it popped in. Looks better there than some gauge pod or cluster pod.

heh, yeah, but i'm the real ghetto one. mine is handing with zip-ties and a paper clip from under the radio. i have no center console or shifter console, so that area is open. it's looks crappy, but it's facing the driver. and mine has a multimeter with it, and i wouldn't know what the heck to do about that. maybe velcro it to the dash, but that's even worse. as it is, it's a handful running the car through second and third on the highway and reading the LCD to see if my a/f ratio is right, or if i have to fix it.

I'd pick the cobalt just because it looks better. Narrowband O2 is close to useless though.

Get the greddy digital one, its about $325 but good if you ever plan on going boosted, and it also blinks when your a/f goes to high or low.

im with the last two guys, a plx wideband will be 10000000x more useful than a shitty narrowband afr gauge.
