Default Head milling?

what going on?

I have a b16 in a DA, and I am replacing my head gasket. It overheated mildly. (about 3/4s of the way up on the guage), and ever since, it hasn't run completely right. It uses a little coolant. But anyway, I am taking my head to the machine shop tomorrow, and I was thinking about getting my head milled like 20 thousandths or so. It would be nice to raise my compression a little. I was wondering if that's too much to take off or not. I am not sure. Another friend has a Volkswagen, and he had his milled 20 thousandths, and his runs with no problems. Also does anyone know how much more compression I would get from that? Any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

clay it when you are done. if you have any questions about claying search around in the allmotor forum. if you do need to gain some valve clearance, you can call cometic up and get a thicker head gasket. compression calculators are all over on the net, again, search the allmotor forum. you have to know some pretty wicked info to do a correct compression calculator reading (like dome volumn, compression height, crown height, and a few other things that are hard to measure).

speaking from experience, .020" is alot to whack off a honda head, .010 is a better number to go with. i'd expect about 1/2 a point in compression for .020 if you can fit it w/ a .026 HG and still clear valves
