Default Question on shifting problem

I know this is the accord forums, but it would probobly be the same sort of deal. My brother has a 2003 eclipse, and when he is driving he can take the shifter out of 2nd gear and shift it into 3rd gear, without touching the clutch. He doesn't rip the thing out, he just takes it out like he would regular while stepping on the clutch. I was wondering if anyone knows what this means. He does have a shortshifter kit, maybe something got worn down?

Nothing is wrong at all. all he is doing is matching the syncros like 90dx said. Also if this is done correctly there is no reason you can't do it all the time. I drove my jeep for years like this. Never had any problems.
