I'm leaking oil pretty badly and can't figure out where it's coming from. It LOOKS like it is coming from above the oil filter somewhere. I have replaced the valve cover gasket, the oil filter, the oil pressure sending unit, and cut into the oil cooling hose thinking that the leak was coming from there. What else could be leaking above the oil filter? The oil seems to either come from the block where the filter meets or from above that point, it drips down onto the base of the oil filter and makes its way around the filter until it drips directly onto the exhaust. Causes lots of smoke! I can also hear an airy sound that I've never noticed before while the motor is running. It sounds like a slow air leak from a tire. Help!

 

have you checked the balance shaft seal? I know those things go bad on the 94-97's.
