Okay my gas gauge is right above the E mark so i stop to a gas station, leave my car on and put in $10 worth of gas. As soon as i'm pulling off my car shuts off on me, i tried to start it a few times but nothing, after about 3 minutes i decide to hold the gas pedal all the way to the floor and start it. It finally starts and i kept the idle around 2k for like 10 seconds and doesn't give me anymore problems. This happens everytime i go to put in gas.

Could it be because I leave the car on and put in gas or because i use 87 octane? I know it cant be the gas station cause it happend to more tha 1 gas station.

 

first off. TURN your car OFF when u fill up

 

Can't believe the gas station attendant doesn't yell at you for leaving your car on while gasing up.

I fill up with the car on all the time with no problem. I dunno whats goin on there dude. Unless your system isnt keeping pressure.

folks, correct me if i'm wrong, but it does no good to hold the gas pedal to the floor when trying to start a fuel injected vehicle, only on carburated.

when is the last time you ran some injector cleaner thru or changed your fuel filter? i don't know why it would only do it after trying to be a ****** formula 1 driver at pitstop, but just try it.

Get the **** out of here and sell your car. You need to start taking the bus till you learn to do things the right way not the "fast" way. How much time do you think you are saving leaving your car on while you fill up? **** I even leave my cell phone in the car cause of the static electricity that can be emitted from it leading to an explosion of any fumes.

Turn your car the **** off and THEN fill up.

Edit: Oh and your wasting your money on that 87. I learned that the heard way. Filling up with gas that is a higher rating in a stock engine is pointless.

 

Souinds like you just lost pressure in the lines. like air got in the system when you opened the gas cap. Just shut your car off and fill up, i mean come on dnt you waych 20/20 or dateline.

 

realize ur not driving a carb motor anymore. its fuel injected. theres fuel when the key is turn on. and shut off that engine before putting gas. or else joo will get OwNeD.!

and no this doesnt happen to any other honda drivers. cuz they know how to drive a honda.

Its not good to floor the pedal on carb cars either, you will flood the carb . One a fuel injected car, having the pedal makes no difference becuase the fuel doesn't flow until the Aux. is on and you can't flood a fuel injected car. This is what I thought you can also "correct ME" if Im wrong.

 

you can leave it on when your filling up if you have a diesel but last time I checked hondas arnt diesels

The reason to hold the pedal to floor while cranking is to move a lot of air through a flooded engine to clear all the excess fuel in the combustion chambers. Makes no difference on a carbureated or fuel injected engine as long as you have cable operated accelerator to hold the butterflies open. Purpose is not to get gas to the engine but to dry out a flooded engine.

Honda has a pressurized fuel return system. 1. You need to turn your car off before filling up and not because you are afraid of static and explosions but because you are releasing the pressure from the return line. The reason you have such a problem starting the car again is because it is having to rebuild the pressure you have released. Normally it would just release the pressure from the tank to the fpr, but since you are leaving the car running it is releasing the pressure beyond the fpr. Then the entire system has to repressurize. Simple. SHURT YOUR CAR OFF BEFORE YOU FUEL UP!!

also my fuel cap doesn't fit tightly, it doesn't take any kind of effort to take it off. u know some fuel caps u gotta put a little strenght into it to get it off but not mine. could this cause bad gas mileage or anything? i sometimes hear like air coming out the gas cover.
