Default 1994 RS Overheating

Ok i know overheating has been coverd but nothing is the same as my scenario...

The car will only over heat when im driving up hill for a long time or with a lot of weight in the car, if i am in 5th gear with the heater on the temp continues to go up, if i drop it in 4th and get in it then it will cool down. I drive this car everyday to school like 20miles and its all flat stop and go traffic and its fine. Also the heater kinda sucks like it wont heat up unless im driving for awhile. any help would be great.

You could try a new thermostat first, but it kinda sounds like your radiator is clogged up & can't handle the extra heat from climbing or heavy loads. Maybe you can clean it out with some of that superflush or whatever stuff.

When it gets hot does the radiator fan start up?

check thermostat and then radiator hoses, check for leaks, check coolant, check fan to make sure its activating. if it dosen't fix the problem then you have a blown headgasket.

the fans works there is no leaks the car only overheats after a long period of getting on it... there is no smoke, if the head gasket was blown wouldn't there be smoke?
