broken power window - please help!
i have a 92 accord winter beater, and today the drivers side power window broke -
i opened it halfway, but then would only go up from where i lowered it to about 2 inches and stop. i hit down again, and it went down further, but then would only go up 2 inches from that point and stop. after a while of playing with it it is now all the way down, and will go up 2in and stop. if i keep screwing with it, it eventually throws the breaker on the motor and wont move at all for a while, but then it starts working again (in that i can go between all the way down and up 2-3 inches).
i searched and read about the switches going bad and working to go down but not up, and also how to check the contacts and clean them up.
think this is a switch problem or something else, seeing as how it would go up a little bit and stop? the track is free and the window moves freely within its now limited range of movement.
i really need this fixed now because its about 15 degrees outside here, and i also obviously dont want to leave my car parked in public with the window all the way down.
how can i get the switch unit out of the doorpanel? need to take off the doorpanel? anything i would need to worry about with the lock mechanisms or anything else when i take off the panel? anyone have a helms manual and could give me some tips?
ive never had anything on this car apart, so thats why im sounding like a noob. any help would be much appreciated

have you tried readjusting the window guide? on my 5th gen i had a similar problem till i finally got to checking it... my window guide was slightly slanted in a angle causing the window to stop at a certain spot... i lubed it up a bit with armor all vinyl spray (didnt have lubricant around, but i recommend you use it) my window hasnt been giving me a prob ever since...
ive also changed my battery connectors also, and everything seems a bit more responsive and brighter (windows, wipers, defroster, interior lights)
also check the track and see if it jumped... if i remember right on a 92 its a couple of screws i think 3 or 4 and pop the panel off... remove the panel and electrical plugs and youll see the sound/wind guard plastic thing... remove it slowly (it rips like paper) and youll have access holes to reach inside to see the window motor/track/and doorlock... the window track is held down by a 10mm socket and it should slide out. reverse for installation

well, after pulling up on the window while giving it its 2" head start i got it to go all the way up. either the motor is on its way out or the track or mechanism is sticking. ill check it out more when its warmer out but at least its up now.
