Default going back to stock to take advantage of warranty?

How many of you put aftermarket parts on, such as exhaust, intakes, turbo, etc. and then remove all of it to take it back to the dealer for your free routine maintenance under warranty? Also wondering, if you were to throw a rod with a turbo setup, could you put it all back to stock and then take it in for free? How exactly do the warranties work?

Why not just walk in with a gun and rob them?

Seriously though. You knew, or should have known, when you put the turbo or whatever on that it would void the warranty. You should have taken that into consideration when you did it.

I know you aren't going to put a gun to them or anything stupid like that, but theft by deception is still stealing.

a dealer has the right to refuse to work on a warantee claim where an aftermarket part caused the claimed problem.

you put it back, they'll see that you unbolted the part. and then they'll charge you regular work hours.

I never take off the CAI, or exhaust & I've never had any issues w/ warrenty service. They can't legally deny you the service unless that aftermarket part can be proven to cause the damage that needs repair.

only the miserable waste-of-skin types do that. these will also be the same people who:

~will **** and moan when manufacturers quit offering warranties.

~blame the car for poor quality when their ham-fisted driving is the cause

~disregard good tuning information, blow up the car, pin their troubles on inferior aftermarket pieces.

~make it harder for those trying to submit an honest claim and get skepticism from the service manager.

just my $.02

Amen to that! If you are worried about warranty work dont strap a turbo on until you warranty is expired.

i have race header, esmm, aem v2. i still go to the dealer that i bought my car from for oil changes.

whenever i have a problem and it's my fault, i happily pay the dealer. they replaced my entire SRS system because the SRS kept going out. until we found out the problem was the underdash neons that i installed.

they're honest with me. i'm honest with them.

If you bust your car because of one of your mistakes you need to bite the bullet and do the right thing. Dont scam and mess it up for the rest of the people who actually have a mfg defect.
